Mrs. Barry serves as a Minister at the Golden Gates Outreach Ministries.
Her ministry involves several interconnected areas of service that address both spiritual and physical needs. The first aspect is spiritual counsel, which focuses on guiding individuals through prayer, encouragement, and biblical teaching, providing emotional support and helping others strengthen their faith in challenging circumstances.
Her outreach extends to the provision of meals and material supplies which directly meet the immediate needs of those she serves, demonstrating compassion in a practical way.
She has dedicated more than sixty years to personal outreach ministries that serve the community. One of her earliest and longest commitments has been as a Chaplain for the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services, where she has faithfully served for nearly fifty years and continues to be actively involved today. In this role, she has touched and transformed the lives of many inmates through her counsel and presence.
Mrs. Barry’s ministry has also extended to Homes for the aged, including The Persis Rodgers Home, Naomi Kristi Home, Good Samaritan’s Home, and The Geriatric Hospital. In addition, she has worked with young people through her service at The Willimae Pratt Home for Girls where she has served as Chairman and the Simpson Penn Home for Boys. For more than 25 years, she has also ministered to the residents of All Saints Camp, offering encouragement, guidance and meeting tangible needs.
She has also served on the Bahamas National Drug Committee.
Through these efforts, her counsel has inspired and changed countless lives across the Bahamas. Over the years, she has been blessed with the support of a faithful group of donors who share in her vision of building the “whole man.” Together, they have sought to uplift the less fortunate spiritually while also providing material support where it is needed most.
Her home remains a refuge for those in need, as she continually looks for ways to serve her community.
